Financing Your Education: Scholarships & Awards

As a transfer student, you are eligible for our transfer scholarship program, which honors your academic performance. Scholarships are awarded based on your overall academic record and evidence of achievements. Awards are made only to applicants who will attend Western State Colorado University full time.

Transfer Scholarships for Colorado Residents

Incoming transfer students who are residents of Colorado are eligible for the scholarships listed below. You are considered a transfer student if you took college classes AFTER you graduated from high school.

Transfer students with less than 30 college credits must have a minimum 2.50 college GPA and must meet the eligibility requirements for Colorado Freshmen.

The following scholarships are available to in-state transfer students:

Western Scholars Award: $2,000 
  • 3.50-4.00 GPA in 30 college credits
  • 3.00 cumulative GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)
 Western Advantage Award: $1,500
  • 3.00-3.49 GPA in 30 college credits
  • 2.75 cumulative GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)

Scholarships for Out-of-State Transfers

Incoming transfer students who are residents of states other than Colorado are eligible for the scholarships listed below. You are considered a transfer student if you took college classes AFTER you graduated from high school.

Transfer students with less than 30 college credits must have a minimum 2.50 college GPA and must meet the eligibility requirements for Non-Resident Freshmen.

The following scholarships are available to out-of-state transfer students:

Mountaineer Scholars Award: $5,500
  • 3.50-4.00 GPA in 30 college credits
  • 3.00 cumulative GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years) 
Mountaineer Advantage Award: $5000 
  • 3.00- 3.49 GPA in 30 college credits
  • 2.75 cumulative GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)
Mountaineer Award: $2,500
  • 2.75-2.99 GPA in 30 college credits
  • 2.00 cumulative GPA required for renewal (renewable up to 3 years)
