The freshman application is for students who are (or soon will be) high school graduates and have not attended another college after graduating from high school. Students who have completed their junior year in high school may apply for admission at any time after August 15.
WSCU is a moderately selective institution. Your admission depends on your academic record, ACT or SAT scores and extracurricular activities. We seek students with the ability to succeed and to take advantage of all that WSCU has to offer.
Optional information includes an essay (typed, double-spaced) on a topic of your choice and letters of recommendation from teachers, counselors or others who can speak to your academic ability, character and ability to succeed.

If you will be or have graduated from an accredited high school, you will need to have:
If you have not graduated from high school but have successfully completed a GED program with a minimum average score of 500 overall and a minimum of 410 in each area, we will consider your application for admission.
Applicants with a GED must also provide ACT or SAT scores. High school transcripts and two letters of recommendation are highly recommended.
WSCU recognizes that many students have taken Advanced Placement tests, CLEP tests and/or participated in the International Baccalaureate (IB) program. The following links provide specific equivalencies for individual tests. A minimum score of 3 is required for credit to be granted for most Advanced Placement tests (for some a score of 4 is required). WSCU will grant International Baccalaureate credit for tests with a score of 4 or better. Students may be awarded a maximum of 18 credits from CLEP exams.
Typically, you will receive your admission decision three-four weeks after we have received all of your application materials.
Once you’ve made your decision to attend WSCU, you may confirm your enrollment and reserve your spot in the in-coming class by submitting your $200 tuition deposit. You will need to submit your deposit before you can register for classes.
You can submit your deposit by check or by credit card by contacting the cashier's office at (970) 943-3003.
“I was surprised by the weather here. It’s amazing that 0 in the city is colder then the sunny cold winter days of 20 degrees below. Remember, you don’t have to be a snow bunny to enjoy everything Western has to offer.”
