As you prepare for your first year at Western State Colorado University, please complete the following checklist:
Confirm your enrollment
Submit your $200 tuition deposit and your enrollment confirmation form, which can be found in your acceptance book, by May 1, 2013.
This will secure your spot in the incoming class at Western.
If you are paying your deposit by credit card, call the Cashier’s Office at (970) 943-3003. If you are paying by check, please mail checks to: Cashier’s Office, 600 North Adams Street, Gunnison, CO 81231.
If you are admitted after May 1, you should return the enrollment confirmation form with payment within two weeks of receiving your offer of admission.
Discover your Inside WSCU Account
Go to western.edu/inside/students to access financial aid information, check your student email and learn more about class registration.
Your Student ID number will be your username (stu######).
Your password will be sent to you in a separate envelope by Information Technology Services shortly after your acceptance packet. To be sent a new password, contact IT Services at (970) 943-3333.
Fill out the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) online at fafsa.ed.gov. Western’s school code is 001372.
Check the status of your financial aid and scholarships and accept/modify/decline student loans through your Inside WSCU Account any time after March 15.
Submit your residence life application
Send your residence life application and $100 to Western to secure your housing and meal plan on campus.
You should have received the application and housing contracts in your Acceptance Booklet. If you did not receive it, please contact the Admissions Office so we can verify your mailing address.
Register for classes
You can access registration for your entry term beginning on the following dates:
March 3, 2013 for Summer 2013 semester
April 15, 2013 for Fall 2013 semester

Get ready for Orientation
Fall 2013 Orientation will be held Wednesday August 21 through Sunday August 25, 2013. You will be signed up for Orientation when you register for classes.
Orientation includes an exploration of the Gunnison Valley, introduction to academic resources, involvement in a service learning project and social events with other students.
Your final transcripts must be sent to the Admissions Office after your graduation date. Be sure to request your final transcripts before your high school closes for the summer.

Get your books for fall classes
Sign up for the Books-To-Go Program at wscubookstore.western.edu or pick up all your books during Orientation.
Pay your tuition bill
A paper billing statement will be mailed to you in July

Wilderness Based Orientation
Wilderness Based Orientation (WBO) trips allow you to experience the beautiful Gunnison Valley, offering experiences in rock climbing, multi-sport land activities, mountaineering, whitewater kayaking , sea kayaking or backpacking.
These trips take place the week preceding Orientation, from August 17 through August 21.
Each trip costs $425 and financial assistance is available through WBO Scholarships.
Registration will begin May 1, 2013. Check out the WBO page for more details.
Advanced Coursework
Official college transcripts, and/or AP or IB scores must be sent to the Admissions Office in order to receive credit.
You will receive a formal evaluation of these credits via email three to four weeks after submitting them to Western.

Honors Program
All high achieving and motivated students are welcome to join the Honors Program. Students with a 3.5 GPA or above will receive a formal invitation.
This is a 21 credit program that works with your major and minor to create an experience where students develop various social and academic skills.

The WIT program provides additional services for adult learners and non-traditional students.
